Bird of Sand is a fairy-tale parable about love. The boy Silvan observes love through the act of purchase. It was necessary for him to move out of that time into a completely different time, into the Pre-world, to pass through the colorful world of the Mirror Man, the Dog bounded by nothing, Sun Rays in a cart, Bird of Sand, and One-eyed Felix, in order to understand true meaning of love.
We are left with this world, the After-world. Without the Bird of Sand, we are compelled to find the essence of love on our own.
